Excess Mortality During China’s COVID Exit Wave.

I worked as a part-time research assistant for professor Guojun He in Economics at the University of Hong Kong, and the work is supervised by postdoc Yuchen Quan at the University of Hong Kong.
I leveraged Poisson Pseudo Maximum Likelihood Estimation (ppml) to run the robustness checks for all the main regressions in this paper. Furthermore, I collected information about all deceased academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering through web crawlers, and inferred their academic departments through ChatGPT. Finally, I used descriptive statistics to infer whether Covid had an impact on the addition of academicians of the two academies.
